The Oral Hygiene Rules to Obey When You Have Aligners

Posted .

Are you aligning your teeth with orthodontic aligners? If so, it’s important to follow the rules set for treatment. As you probably already know, there are oral hygiene rules set for treatment. These rules can help you have the top-notch and successful orthodontic treatment you deserve because they help you care for your smile and appliance. Today, our dentists would like to remind you of those rules by listing them on our blog today. Those rules are:

-Brush often: Brushing can help you avoid getting cavities during treatment. This is because it removes the food particles and plaque that would be stuck on your smile and under the aligner all day. So, please brush after each time you eat. This can also help you avoid plaque buildup on the aligner.

-Floss regularly: Flossing can also help you avoid dental issues, especially cavities and gum disease, during your orthodontic journey. So, make sure to floss at least once a day.

-Rinse daily: Rinsing can eliminate the bacteria in your mouth, complete the smile-cleaning job and more, so don’t forget to rinse with mouthwash daily.

-Clean your aligners: Rinse your aligners every time you take them out of the mouth. You can just rinse them under water. At night, brush the aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush or with the aligner-cleaning tools provided in your orthodontic kit.
